Members of the St. Luke's community have access to more information than any previous generation. St. Luke’s School believes in the power of information, that being able to access, understand, and present information in a clear and coherent manner are fundamental skills members of our community must possess. Thus, it is critically important that both students and faculty use technology to organize, present, and manage information.
Middle school students take computer enrichment courses in 5th, 6th, and 7th grades; 8th graders may choose a computer elective. Ninth graders take a required course in Media Literacy, which not only addresses the technology component of information management, but also the questions associated with its ethical use, and accuracy assessment. Beyond 9th grade, students may take elective courses in introductory, intermediate, and advanced programming involving computer languages such as Scheme, Java, and C++, and in computer graphics.
Students and teachers at St. Luke's make use of a variety of technology tools in conjunction with their academic coursework. Graphing calculators and smartboards appear throughout mathematics and science classes. Mobile wireless laptop-equipped carts float among English, math, and science classrooms. The history clasess are multimedia-enabled, world language classes take advantage of a high-tech language lab, and the Music department’s recording lab is state-of-the-art.

Word-processed assignments, PowerPoint presentations, digital movies, collaborative computer-based conferencing and exchange of information, Internet-based research, St. Luke’s teachers and students have many opportunities throughout the course of their years together to make use of technology to enhance teaching and learning.
