Thank you for taking a moment to learn more about the financial aid program at St. Luke’s School.  At St. Luke’s, we know that the cost associated with tuition can be prohibitive to families who otherwise consider St. Luke’s the perfect fit for their children.  In order to meet the need of qualified applicants, St. Luke’s establishes a healthy financial aid budget each year.  For the 2008-09 academic year, St. Luke’s awarded over $1.7 million in financial aid grants to roughly 18 percent of its students.

To apply for financial aid for the 2009-10 school year, please go to the Financial Information section in the Application for Admission (page 6) and check “YES”.  Or, call the Office of Admission (203) 801-4833 and we will send you the appropriate forms and instructions to guide you through the process, including the School and Student Service for Financial Aid publication, Family Guide to Financial Aid.

Financial aid at St. Luke’s is awarded on the basis of demonstrated need. Calculations are determined by the School and Student Service for Financial Aid (SSS) in Princeton, New Jersey and by the St. Luke’s Financial Aid Committee.  To be considered for financial aid, an application for admission must be completed.

Some important dates to remember:

þ  November 15:  Parents will be able to submit their Parents’ Financial Statement (PFS) either online or via the US Postal Service

þ  January 15: Parents’ Financial Statement (PFS) must be submitted online or mailed with the appropriate fee to SSS

þ  January 15: Deadline for Application for Admission

þ  February 1: All applications for financial aid must be completed

þ  March 1: Decisions on financial aid are mailed to families

A completed application for financial aid includes a copy of the Parents’ Financial Statement (PFS), official copies of the 2007 and 2008 Federal Tax Form 1040, and all supporting tax schedules.  Applications among qualified families who complete the financial aid process after February 1, will be reviewed as funds become available. If the student’s parents are divorced, both must submit financial documentation.

For more information on the St. Luke’s School financial aid policies and philosophies, please feel free to download the St. Luke’s School Financial Aid Manual. In addition, workshops to help families understand the process are offered each winter at school. Please consult the school’s calendar to find out when the next one occurs.

Many families require assistance beyond what a school may be able to offer. NAIS’ Tuition Loan Programs and Tuition Payment Plans pages should serve as a resource to help you identify other types of financing options that may be available to you. We encourage you to contact these companies and agencies to check on current fees and rates and to assess whether their services would be reasonable financing alternatives for you at the school of your choice. This list is neither an endorsement nor representation of sponsorship of these payment plans or loan programs.

This information comes from the very valuable www.nais.org site which families are strongly urged to consult.
