 | St. Luke’s believes that the cost of tuition should not prohibit families from considering admission. An established Tuition Assistance program ensures that the St. Luke’s experience is affordable to many rather than a few. For the 2011-12 school year, St. Luke’s awarded over $2.5 million in need-based tuition assistance to more than 19% of its student population.
Candidates for admission may apply for tuition assistance for the 2012-2013 school year by completing the Financial Information section on the Preliminary Application for Admission and check "YES". Or, contact the Office of Admission at (203) 801-4833 or by email at info@stlukesct.org and we will send you the appropriate forms and instructions to guide you through the process.
To be considered for need-based assistance, qualified applicants must complete the Preliminary Application for Tuition Assistance. A completed application includes 1) a copy of the Parents' Financial Statement (PFS), 2) official copies of the 2010 and 2011 Federal Tax Form 1040, and 3) all supporting tax schedules. To prepare the Parents' Financial Statement (PFS) online, go to School and Student Service for Financial Aid (SSS), and follow the instructions to the Website for Parents/Families Applying for Financial Aid.
As you prepare your application for tuition assistance, please keep in mind these important dates:
- November 1, 2011: Parents' Financial Statement (PFS) can be filed online
- January 1, 2012: All applications for tuition assistance must be completed
- February 17, 2012: Decisions on Tuition Assistance are mailed to families

| Q. | What determines eligibility for tuition assistance? | | A. | All tuition assistance at St. Luke's is awarded on the basis of demonstrated need. St. Luke's does not award merit-based scholarships. Tuition assistance is determined through analysis of a family's financial resources, including income and assets reported in the Parents' Financial Statement (PFS) and Federal Tax Form 1040 for the last two years. |

| Q. | How do we receive a tuition assistance application? | | A. | You must complete the St. Luke's Preliminary Application for Admission. Under the section titled, Financial Information check "YES" to become a candidate for tuition assistance. This form should be accompanied by the required non-refundable $75 application fee and sent to the St. Luke's Admission Office. (NB: If you feel the $75 application fee is a financial hardship, please contact the Office to request a fee waiver.) We will send tuition assistance forms to those families who check "YES" in this shaded section of the application. |

| Q. | What are the procedures for completing the tuition assistance application? | | A. | Families can submit their Parents' Financial Statement (PFS) to School and Student Services (SSS) by NAIS starting November 1, 2011. Completing this process online is considered the fastest and most convenient way to deliver your information to schools. To apply for tuition assistance online, go to: sss.nais.org
If you decide to mail your Parents' Financial Statement to SSS, be sure to mail the original PFS and copies of each document you have been requested to send to SSS. Documents range from 2010 and 2011 Tax forms and schedules to W-2's, 1099, important business and farm schedules, and Tax Form 4056. Be sure to ask each school exactly what is required.

| Q. | What if tax information is not available at the time of the application? | | A. | We understand that your 2011 1040 Federal Income Tax Forms may not be prepared by our application deadline for the 2012-2013 school year. Therefore, we ask you to ESTIMATE your tax information on the Parents' Financial Statement. A provisional grant wiil be awarded and reviewed upon receipt of the completed 2011 Income Tax Form. If there are any differences between the PFS, the 2010 1040 and the actual 2011 1040, you should expect your award to be adjusted accordingly. Remember, we must have a copy of your latest 1040 Federal Income Tax Form with schedules in order to finalize your tuition assistance award.

| Q. | What is the deadline for applying for tuition assistance for the 2012-2013 school year? | | A. | Your Parents' Financial Statement must be submitted online or by mail and processed by SSS in Randolph, MA by January 1, 2012. A copy of all required documents must be submitted and processed by SSS no later later than January 1, 2012. Tuition assistance applications completed among qualified applicants after the January deadline will be reviewed as funds become available. |

| Q. | If we have more than one child applying for tuition assistance, do we have to complete more than one tuitiion assistance application? | | A. | No. Please note that the Parents' Financial Statement (PFS) now allows you to apply for up to three children (Applicants A, B, and C). If you do have more than one child applying, please make separate copies of the PFS for each child applying for their individual financial aid files and send them directly to the Office of Admission. |

| Q. | If we own a business or a farm, do we have to complete any special forms? | | A. | If you own a business or a farm, you must complete the Business/Farm IRS Form as part of the online process with SSS. |

| Q. | If I am a non-custodial parent, do I file a special tuition assistance form? | | A. | All non-custodial parents are required to complete the Parents' Financial Statement (PFS) in order for their child to be considered for tuition assistance.

| Q. | When will we be notified of our tuition assistance award? | | A. | If all the necessary materials have been received, notification of your financial aid award will accompany your admission letter which is mailed by February 17, 2012.

June 1: Enrollment agreements take full effect on June 1st. This means that enrolled families wishing to withdraw before June 1st are only liable for their deposit; June 1st and beyond, families are responsible for the entire year's tuition obligation.
