A New St. Luke's Alumni Author

We're pleased to announce that Doug Wright '63 has just published his first novel, Thao's Story, the tale of a Vietnamese woman's quest to find her American father.  Recently, we had lunch with Doug and Dick Whitcomb to discuss Doug's book.

Having served as an Army officer in Vietnam, the main character Thao and her tale have been with Doug since the 1980's.

Alumnae and Alumni,

This school year, 2007-2008, promises to be a great year for alumni culture at St. Luke's School.  When you come visit, you'll be pleased to see:

  • A New Trophy Case  --  SLS will soon have its first and only trophy case in our 79 year history.  We have some 100 trophies, so please be sure to view your team's tributes on prominent display in the entrance to the Athletic Center.
  • A New Alumni Office  --  located in the Athletic Center with the door ever open is the newly situated Alumni Office, waiting for you to fill its chairs.

We hope that you can find the time to come visit.  You'll see that your heritage on the Hilltop is a vibrant part of the School environment.

And if your visit is virtual today or tomorrow, you'll enjoy a robust number of features on this web site.  From here, you can find former classmates, post a class note, and listen to a live stream of WSLX, St. Luke's radio station (follow this link to check it out: WSLX.

You can also give to the School on-line (Giving On-Line to SLS), which a record number of you did last year.  Whether it's matter of convenience or your wish to save trees, please feel free to use this online feature to make your gift.  You'll also note that this year we have introduced several new giving categories to the Annual Fund, the School's primary instrument for donations.  You can now direct your gift toward Area of Greatest Need, Athletic Fund, Faculty Fund, and/or Scholarship Fund.  Your donation will support those areas not fully covered by the gap between tuition and operating costs.  This is a great opportunity to focus your contribution and we hope you can take advantage of it.
