| Q. | Why should I make charitable gifts to St. Luke’s School? | | A. | Your donations directly benefit the student body by providing needed funds to offer better compensation packages to teachers, buy equipment, build facilities, and attract a diverse student body. In aggregate, strong participation among families signifies support for the work of the faculty and is an important benchmark to foundations that fund independent school programs and to prospective families looking at St. Luke’s School. If you make any gifts at all to other non-profit organizations to support their missions, we hope you will consider St. Luke’s as a worthwhile cause.

 | Q. | Does St. Luke’s School accept gifts from corporate matching gifts programs? | | A. | Yes. Please let us know that your company makes matching gifts and we will help expedite the process.
 | Q. | What is tax-deductible? | | A. | All gifts in which you do not receive direct goods or services are tax-deductible. Annual Fund, Capital Campaign, and bequest gifts are fully tax-deductible.
 | Q. | I volunteer my time at St. Luke's. Does that mean I also am expected to give donations? | | A. | In order for St. Luke’s to thrive, families contribute their hands, hearts, and financial resources, to the extent made possible by other personal and financial commitments. Parents who volunteer their time are vital to the success of the school. Volunteers at the school appreciate even more the many goals the school would like to reach for its students. We ask our volunteers to support those goals through charitable giving as well.
 | Q. | How much should I give? | | A. | We encourage you to give a gift that is meaningful to you, reflects your enthusiasm for St. Luke’s School, and works for your family. Since families have different financial situations, the amounts differ. All gifts are welcome and needed.
 | Q. | If I give to one program, will I be asked to give to others? | | A. | All the fundraising programs fund different needs, and many families like to give to several or to all of the programs. You will be asked to contribute to the Annual Fund, Endowment Campaign, and PA-sponsored events. Giving is voluntary.
 | Q. | As an alum, why should I give to St. Luke’s? | | A. | You are committed to St. Luke’s mission of creating lifelong learners and socially responsible citizens. As you once benefited from the donors who made things possible when you are most involved at St. Luke’s, you are doing the same for the current generation. |
 | Q. | What is the difference between fundraising done by the Development Office and the Parents’ Association? | | A. | The Development Office handles fundraising for budgetary needs, capital and endowment needs, special projects, and planned giving. The Parents’ Association handles fundraising for student enrichment, curriculum enhancement, community-building social activities, and specific initiatives determined by the School and the P.A. The Development Office and the Parents’ Association closely coordinate activities.

 | Q. | Will my giving be recognized in School publications? | | A. | St. Luke’s School likes to say thank you by recognizing your contribution in different print materials. Donors can also be listed as “anonymous.”
