 | Advisory, Clubs & Activities | | St. Luke’s advisory program begins in the 6th grade, and continues throughout their years at the School. Designed to support students as they navigate the academic and social life of the School, St. Luke’s advisors are an important link between students, teachers, and parents. They know their students well and help them plan a balanced course of study and co-curricular activities. |
During the school day, Upper School students may choose from a variety of clubs. The clubs meet during lunch or immediately after school (before activities begin) 2-4 times a month. Students with interest in a particular area may either initiate or join a club at any time during the year. The list of clubs below indicates those that are in place at the moment, though throughout the year students may initiate new clubs that reflect their particular interests.

Affinity groups are designed to support students who are or might be marginalized at St. Luke’s due to being in the minority or historically under-represented school population. They provide a safe and stimulating opportunity, during school hours, for students and allies of such groups to support each other, to express themselves, to develop ways to educate the majority population about their culture and concerns, and to understand the shared values that unite them with the entire school community.

After classes are over for the day, students all participate in one of our many afternoon activities. For most of our students, the activity is either athletics or theater, but we know that others have passions that they would like to develop in other areas. Our Afternoon Activity Program is designed to accommodate a wide variety of interests and skills. These activities usually meet Monday-Thursday from 2:45-3:45 and fulfill the requirement that all students have to participate in a non-academic activity after classes. Students sign up for an activity for each of the three seasons and are encouraged to use these activities as an opportunity to try new things.

| | “Students learn better when they feel connected in school to peers and adults. Knowing that they are known motivates students and gives them the confidence to work hard, to seek new experiences, and to take intellectual and extracurricular risks.”
— Mark Davis, Head of School |
Clubs and Activities News New Chess Group Chess Group is offered as an 'after-after' school activity throughout the school year through the American Chess Teachers Association, an organization that teaches chess to thousands of students each school year.
