Ceramics for Credit

For St. Luke’s Upper Schoolers: This intensive, short-format course, which confers 0.5 credits towards SLS’s Fine & Performing Arts graduation requirement, is designed to introduce students to the basics of ceramics and 3-D design. In this course, students will be instructed in various hand-building and wheel-throwing techniques.

Across the three weeks, students will also learn trimming and glazing techniques and will use the electric kiln and possibly the raku kiln. The class will culminate with individual projects that will allow the students to realize their own vision as ceramic artists and will employ the lessons learned in the course.

Please contact Summer Program Director Hunter Martin with questions about the summer session. Any questions about the Fine and Performing Arts graduation requirement should be directed to Director of Studies Jim Yavenditti.
