This Reading and Study Skills workshop is designed to improve students’ skills in time management, note-taking, reading speed and comprehension, and test preparation.  Led by Upper School History teacher David Parsons, this immersive experience not only teaches students essential strategies like SQ3R and pre-reading, but also provides them with ample time to practice those skills in a realistic setting ahead of the new school year.  While students will take their own notes each day, they will also receive a take-home resource with course materials and review activities at the conclusion of the program. Also included at no extra cost is the opportunity for additional review and practice on four Saturdays in September and early October.*  These autumn sessions will focus on the practical application of skills learned during the summer program, so that students feel confident that they’re putting their best foot forward from the very outset.

Mr. Parsons has worked at St. Luke’s for over 20 years and taught classes in both the Middle and Upper School. He holds a Masters degree in Secondary and Special Education and has extensive experience teaching reading and study skills.

*Note: The optional fall review/practice sessions are 9:00 - 10:00am on September 14, 21, 28, and October 5.
