Anna Knechtel

Director of Athletics & Physical Education
Anna Knechtel, MS ATC, was appointed Director of Athletics & Physical Education in 2023 after originally joining the St. Luke's community in 2007 as an athletic trainer. Ms. Anna, as she is affectionately called, graduated from Quinnipiac University with a bachelor's degree in athletic training and completed her master's degree at the University of South Carolina. While at USC, she fell in love with independent schools and that one can be a part of so many aspects of the athletics department at a smaller school.

Anna is respected by students and colleagues for her collaborative, efficient, and upbeat leadership style. Part of her permanent legacy is going above and beyond as a vital member of the Covid-19 Response Team. When the school faced unprecedented challenges, Anna volunteered to help organize and oversee an innovative health check system that allowed St. Luke's to operate safely when other schools could not open. In a nutshell, Anna Knechtel has earned her reputation as a highly capable and accomplished leader.

Drawing on her experience as President of the Fairchester Athletic Association (FAA) Athletic Trainers, Anna is eager to work with FAA Athletic Directors to develop policies for the broader league.

Anna lives in Norwalk with her husband and two young sons. She loves to read, travel to Aruba, and be with her family.
