Matthew A. Drapkin is Chief Executive Officer & Portfolio Manager at Northern Right Capital, an alternative asset manager focused on small- and mid-cap public companies. Northern Right Capital has extensive public company board experience, having successfully created value for shareholders in numerous engagements on public company boards across a variety of industries.

Matthew is currently on the Board of Great Elm Capital Group, an investment holding company, and is Chairman of the Board of Great Elm Capital Corporation, a publicly-traded business development corporation. Matthew previously served on the Board of PRGX Global, a global provider of recovery audit services to retail and commercial clients; and Board of Intevac, a publicly-traded provider of equipment solutions to the hard-disk drive industry and high-sensitivity imaging products, primarily for the defense market. Matthew has also served on a number of other public-company boards, including Ruby Tuesday (as chairman), Hot Topic (lead independent director), Glu Mobile, Xura, Plato Learning, and Alloy.

Prior to joining Northern Right Capital in December 2009, Matthew had extensive investment experience including his work as Head of Research, Special Situations, and Private Equity at ENSO Capital, a New York-based hedge fund, and Senior VP of Corporate Development at MacAndrews & Forbes, participating in more than $3 billion of transactions, including Scientific Games, Deluxe Entertainment Services, AM General, and Scantron. Prior to MacAndrews, Matthew served as General Manager of two Condé Nast publications’ wholly-owned Internet sites, Epicurious.com and Concierge.com, and headed Condé Nast’s internet venture investment effort.

Matthew began his professional career as an investment banker at Goldman, Sachs & Co where he advised companies on corporate finance and M&A matters.
