St. Luke's Alumnus Noel Thomas Jr. Scoops Postseason Awards
St. Luke’s alumnus Noel Thomas Jr. ‘13, who recently completed his final game for the UConn Huskies, has been showered with postseason awards and accolades for his record-breaking year.
The wide receiver was named the Connecticut player of the year by the Walter Camp Football Foundation on Friday, an award given to the top college football player who played high school football in Connecticut. Thomas Jr. will receive the award at the Walter Camp dinner at Yale on January 14.
The honor comes on the back of the George H. "Bulger" Lowe Award the former SLS student received from the Gridiron Club of Greater Boston last week. The Lowe award is one of the oldest in college football dating back to 1939 and is given to the top Division 1 player in New England.
The Norwalk native was also named offensive player of the year by the Huskies after setting the UConn record for receptions with 100 catches in his Senior year. He finished with 183 receptions, the fourth most in the school’s history.
The SLS graduate has also accepted an invitation to play in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl on January 21 in Carson, California.
Thomas Jr. had a stellar career at St. Luke’s with a total of 53 touchdowns and 4,888 offensive yards with 1,206 yards and 25 touchdowns coming in his senior year. He was also part of the Class C NEPSAC Championship team that won the Dan Rorke Bowl in 2012 under the tutelage of his father, St. Luke’s Head Football coach and Assistant Dean of Students, Noel Thomas Sr.
