Lunch & Lead: The Business Behind Art with Christy Maclear

V. Parker
From Upper School Art Chair Sean Lynch:

The Art Department hosted an inspiring Center for Leadership Lunch & Lead led by Christy Maclear, Vice Chairman at Art Agency Partners and St. Luke’s parent. Maclear provided a fascinating glimpse into her evolution from an architectural design and urban planning major at Stanford to becoming a major player in the New York art scene.

Our students learned about her early contributions to the planning of Disney's Epcot Center in Orlando and her role in the development of Millennium Park in Chicago. She also shed light on her tenure as the first Executive Director of Philip Johnson's Glass House in New Canaan as well as being the first CEO of The Robert Rauschenberg Foundation.

Maclear's current role as Vice Chairman at Art Agency Partners, part of Global Fine Arts at Sotheby’s, focuses on creating an advisory practice for artists, estates, and foundations. Following her talk, thoughtful questions were asked about both her experiences and the art industry. It was a great Lunch & Lead as everyone came away with a greater appreciation of careers within the field of art.
