SLS PA: Master Class with Jason Haynes

mn
The Parents' Association held its first Master Class this week, featuring Jason Haynes, Upper School History Department Chair, speaking on "Slavery, Race and Society: Lessons from the U.S. Census."  Jason shared with parents his extensive research into census data from the Antebellum period and the conclusions that can be drawn about the politics of slavery and race in early America. This opened the door to a lively discussion about this period in American history and the lessons that can be learned from it. The Master Class is a continuation of the popular event offered at Homecoming, which is sometimes difficult for current parents to attend due to scheduling conflicts. Events such as this offer parents a glimpse into what their students get to experience every day with our incredibly talented faculty! Many thanks to Jason Haynes for sharing his research and broad knowledge on the topic. It was a fascinating and informative evening for everyone!
