Boys Basketball Ready For Key Stretch

Daniel Clarke
St. Luke’s boys varsity basketball heads into an extremely important stretch of games, hoping to remain undefeated in the Fairchester Athletic Association (FAA).

The Storm is currently 3-0 in FAA league play, following wins against Greenwich Country Day (64-56) School, Hopkins School (79-40), and Brunswick School (63-54).

St. Luke’s hosts King School on Friday, Jan. 21, before a huge week next week. SLS welcomes Hamden Hall and Greens Farms Academy to the Hilltop on Monday, Jan. 24, and Thursday, Jan. 27, respectively, before traveling to Masters School (New York) on Friday, Jan. 28.

St. Luke’s is in an extremely tough conference and has played some very talented teams. It currently holds an overall record of 4-6. With four games in the space of eight days, the Storm hopes to improve its standings and get back above .500.

Head Coach Tony Newsom knows the importance of the upcoming games but is confident in his team: “The only thing we talk about in practice every day is getting better. The next game is always the most important game. We focus on one game at a time and are really happy to have a season. The opportunity to compete together and represent the St. Luke’s community means a great deal to us.”
