Jon Shee Receives Pegasus Pride Award

Evan Downey, Upper School French Teacher
Upper School World Language Department Chair Jon Shee was one of four recipients of the Pegasus Pride Award, announced last week at the annual Connecticut Organization of Language Teachers Conference (CT COLT). The award recognizes teachers who, day in and day out, work hard in their classrooms to underscore the importance and development of foreign language skills among their students. Nominees for this statewide award are evaluated on the following criteria:

  • Professionalism
  • Respect for cultural differences
  • Involvement or interest in professional growth within the language field
  • Dedication to students
  • Enthusiasm for languages and for teaching
Jon was recognized for being an enthusiastic supporter of French teachers and students in his role as President of the Connecticut Chapter of the American Association of Teachers of French (AATF-CT).  For his nomination, Jon’s colleagues described  how he “works to show and teach the many different facets of the complicated French identity and seeks to empower all educators and their students to develop intercultural competency and best practices to reach and respect all learners.”

Congratulations to Mr. Shee on this outstanding honor!
