Senior Sam Stevelman Receives Inspirica’s Youth Volunteer Recognition Award

V. Odenbach
St. Luke’s School senior Samantha “Sam” Stevelman has been an Inspirica volunteer for eight years. Based in Stamford, Inspirica strives to break the cycle of homelessness. Stevelman received Inspirica’s Youth Volunteer Recognition Award at the annual One Step Closer to Home Walkathon. Inspirica CEO Denise Williams, who presented the award, shared that, “Inspirica was thrilled to present Samantha Stevelman with our Youth Volunteer Recognition Award this year. She is an amazing person who gives from her heart. Sam is so kind, loving, smart, creative, and incredibly caring. She is an incredible Inspirica volunteer and brings so much joy to so many of our children living in our family shelter. We will miss her positive energy as she embraces the next phase of her life in college.”

Over her years volunteering at Inspirica, Stevelman has volunteered in many capacities. The majority of her time was spent leading programs at Inspirica’s after-school Youth Center, which provides services to children ages 5-18. Stevelman reflected on this time: “Meeting and connecting with the children in the Youth Center has been the most rewarding aspect of my overall experience. Walking through the magical door covered in stickers and finger paintings, I'm always filled with enthusiasm and excitement to see the kids and make them feel special. I love volunteering at Inspirica and recognize how simple it is to make a difference in a child’s life.”
