St. Luke's Cross Country Shines at New England Championship Race
The St. Luke’s cross country team continued its fantastic season with a strong showing at the New England Championship Race, at Marvelwood School in Kent, Connecticut, on Saturday, Nov. 12.
On a hilly and sometimes muddy course, Danny Gall ’23 finished second in the NEPSTA Division Four Race with a time of 17:24.6. Brian Gall ’23 came in fourth with a time of 18:03.4, and Will Drapkin ’24 was the next runner over the finish line for St. Luke’s, finishing 18th overall with a time of 18:55.6.
All three runners qualified for the All-Star Meet at St. Mark's School in Massachusetts, on Saturday, Nov. 19. The meet includes the top 20 runners from all four divisions of the New England Championship Race.
The boys' varsity team finished fifth out of 18 teams, with Brody Ebright ’25, Alan Calver ’24, Kaan Savasoglu ’23, and Ephraim Gilrain-Lennon ’25 contributing to the team’s overall finish.
In the girls’ race, Hanna Zable ’26 ran another great race and finished sixth overall with a time of 22.05.3. Kathleen Coffey ’25 finished just behind her teammate in seventh place with a time of 22:22.0. Both runners qualified for the All-Star Meet, too.
Head Coach Corliss Spencer was extremely proud of all her runners: “It was another wonderful race for our runners. I am extremely grateful to have watched the team make so much progress throughout the season and look forward to seeing our All-Stars compete next weekend.”
