The Fairfield County chapter of the National Football Foundation Hall of Fame selected 32 scholar-athletes to represent their respective high schools in Western Connecticut. Congratulations go to Phil Samenuk who was chosen to represent St.Luke's. Phil received his special award at a banquet honoring all 32 inductees on April 13.
The National Football Foundation (NFF) recognizes the vital role amateur football plays in the development of our nation's youth and in the education process. The NFF seeks to honor those who have excelled both on and off the field and who demonstrate the Foundation's creed of scholarship, citizenship and athletic ability.
Seven U.S. Presidents, countless military, business and community leaders, and hundreds of football officials and scholar-athletes from all levels are among those who have received these much acclaimed awards. Annually at the local level, the 119 chapters of The National Football Foundation honor over 3,000 high school scholar-athletes and community leaders with scholarships and awards.
Phil Samenuk was chosen to represent St.Luke's School at a recent banquet honoring all 32 inductees. The Fairfield County scholar-athlete dinner is a major event for outstanding high school football players. Each year up to 35 players in the Chapter
are honored and over $4,000 in scholarship money is distributed. Since its founding, over 1200 scholar-athletes have been honored along with notable community and educational leaders.
Congratulations to Phil on a job well done.
