Selection and Awards
The Whitcomb Scholarship will enable one or more students with proven academic and co-curricular potential, strength of character and demonstrated financial need to attend St. Luke's School. Whitcomb Scholarship recipients will be selected based on their ability to make a major contribution to the School and who personify former Headmaster Dick Whitcomb's passion for academic curiosity, strength of character and co-curricular involvement.
The scholarship will cover the cost of the full St. Luke's experience for four years, including tuition, fees, transportation, books, social activities, etc. All recipients will receive financial assistance through graduation provided that they maintain good academic and social standing, participate actively in the school's co-curricular program, and continue to require financial aid.
The St. Luke's Admissions Office will identify qualified candidate(s) for the Whitcomb Scholarship Committee* and will be responsible for administering the selection process. Candidates will be chosen from the pool of students admitted to fifth or ninth grades.
Funding and Fund Management
The scholarship(s) will be funded by interest income generated from the Richard M. Whitcomb Scholarship Endowment Fund, which will be managed as a restricted endowment fund guided and monitored by the Finance Committee of the St. Luke's Board of Trustees. Additional details on the fund's investments are available upon request.
*The Whitcomb Scholarship Committee will be composed of the Director of Admissions, Head of School, former Headmaster and at least one member of the Board of Trustees.
