Great teaching and learning happen in an environment that suits learning goals. The recently completed Science Wing and Black Box Theater underscore how spaces can transform learning. Research also demonstrates a direct correlation between school design and improved academic outcomes.

In this final phase of the master facilities plan, large new spaces—infused with natural light—will expand the main academic building, breathing energy and new possibilities for learning into the Humanities, the Visual Arts, and the Library. Here faculty and students will develop their imaginations, research skills, and capacity to explore, collaborate, and problem solve.

And of course, environment includes more than physical spaces. It encompasses the emotional impact of working for a secure, sustainable organization and within a diverse, compassionate community.

When we invest in environment, we create settings in which students and faculty thrive. We will accomplish this goal through the three initiatives listed here.
