Valerie Jensen is the founder and executive director of the Prospector Theater, a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of adults with disabilities through meaningful employment in the operation of a first run, premium movie theater, located in the heart of historic downtown Ridgefield. Valerie and the Prospector Theater have won many awards, and have employed over 200 “Prospects”, about 70 percent of whom self-identify with a disability since opening in November 2014.
Valerie is a published author, an award-winning filmmaker, and a level 40 Pokémon Trainer.
Valerie earned her undergraduate degree in English from the State University of New York at Albany, and MA in Education from Binghamton University. Valerie taught second grade, and for 12 years was the President of Sphere, Inc., a Ridgefield-based non-profit dedicated to arts, education, recreation and opportunities for adults with disabilities.
Valerie wholeheartedly believes in the ability of one’s personal passions, or inner ‘sparkle’, to accomplish great things. She is married to Greg Jensen and is mother of Oz ’19, Rex '21 and Tigerlily ‘21.
