What's Happening in the Middle School?
St. Luke’s Middle School Gets Kinder
From MS B Kind Club Co-Directors Emily Stute and Caroline Kaynor:
The Middle School B Kind Club is dedicated to spreading kindness throughout the St. Luke’s Middle School community. The club’s mission is to encourage others to use acts of kindness in their everyday life, no matter how big or small. As current Middle Schoolers, we feel that kindness is an important trait for each student to acquire, and starting this club was a great way to do so. We had the idea to start the club early in the school year, modeling it after the Upper School club. After lots planning, the Middle School B Kind Club was up and running by the end of November. The B Kind Club has already completed two very successful projects.
Our first project was an interactive “Kindness Board,” a place for all students to write compliments on a card and hang it up. This allowed students walking to and from class to read the Kindness Board in the Middle School science hallway. Our hope was that this would put a smile one everyone’s face, and we think it worked even better than expected.
Our second project was hanging Candy Cane Grams on random lockers. Students enjoyed this and it showed how something as simple as a candy cane could brighten someone’s day. During our meetings, we have been brainstorming ideas for future acts of kindness. More than twenty middle schoolers have joined the B Kind Club, and it has been amazing to see how many students want to get involved and support it. All of our members have such great ideas and want to help. We have different projects planned for the coming months, so keep your eyes open for the Middle School B Kind Club!
