French Students Indulge in Culinary Delights

S.A.
Before Spring Break, students in Cynthia Briggs’ sixth-grade French classes indulged in some delicious French treats and practiced ordering food in French during their field trip to Patisserie Salzburg in New Canaan.

After studying French foods and how to order in French, students embarked on a field trip to the patisserie—their first field trip since starting at St. Luke’s School. There, they practiced ordering food off of the menu and tasted four different treats. At the conclusion of the trip, Patisserie Salzburg sent each student home with a personalized cookie.

Last week, students continued their unit on French foods by gathering in the Forese Family Fireplace Commons for a crêpe demonstration by Ms. Briggs. She showed them how the batter is made, how to cook the pancake-like item, and how to sweeten the crêpes with fruits, chocolate, and whipped cream. After the demonstration, each student enjoyed a crêpe.
