Faculty Acknowledged At Year-End Meeting

St. Luke’s faculty and staff gathered on June 8 for their annual year-end meeting that included awards and fond farewells. Head of School Mark Davis shared some remarks and along with Assistant Head of School for Leadership & Innovation Jim Foley presented awards to some faculty and staff members who went above & beyond during the school year.
 
The Dr. Joseph R. Kidd Excellence in Teaching Award went to Upper School World History teacher Abby Bielski. This Teacher of the Year award is given to a full-time teacher who exemplifies the ideals of St. Luke’s through excellence in the classroom, service to the total School community, and dedication to the well being and growth of St. Luke’s students.
 
The St. Luke’s Crusader of the Year Award was given to Facilities Manager Darrell Maier. This award is given to the full-time member of the faculty or staff whose contribution to St. Luke’s far exceeds that which is expected of her or him, thereby enriching the life and effectiveness of the School.
 
The Tracy B. Duncan Innovation Award went to faculty members who help create and launch the 9th grade J-Term. They included Abby Bielski, Stephanie Bramlett, Evan Downey, John Higgins and Kate Parker-Burgard. The Tracy B. Duncan Innovation Award is given to the innovative members of the St. Luke’s community whose work has made a significant impact on the SLS student experience and in the development of a culture of innovation at St. Luke’s.   
 
Departing faculty heading off to new adventures were each given a farewell. This included two retirees: School Nurse Marge Kimball and Art Teacher and Librarian Peggy Van Acker.
