Art Students Receive Private Tour of Architecture Exhibit

V. Parker
From Upper School Art Chair Sean Lynch:

The Upper School Art Department brought students to an exhibit called New Canaan Modern Architects - 50 Years of Achievement 1947 -1997 at The New Canaan Carriage Barn Arts Center at Waveny Park. We were invited by the curator himself, Alan Goldberg FAIA, who was among the group of 22 Modern architects who settled in New Canaan in the 1950's and are featured in the exhibit. Mr Goldberg spent an hour leading our students through the exhibition which featured scale models, photos, memorabilia and tools of the trade from the days before the computer.

The gallery is closed on Monday and Tuesday yet they generously hosted us and provided a special experience for our art students. We are grateful to Alan Goldberg, photographer Michael Biondo and Hilary Wittmann, Executive Director of the Carriage Barn.
