Schools Visit St. Luke’s World Language Program

V. Parker
From Upper School World Language Chair Jon Shee:

St. Luke’s World Language Department welcomed ten teachers and administrators from four different schools on Thursday: Ridgefield Academy, Brimmer and May School, The Marvelwood School, and Common Ground High School. Each school requested a visit after hearing about our World Language program’s innovations and extensive use of technology.

Our visitors had a full schedule, starting with a departmental share session in which all the St. Luke’s World Language teachers presented their latest teaching, curriculum, and project innovations. There were classroom visits where the guests observed our blended classes (half online/half face-to-face), French students videoconferencing live with college-level students in France, students recording in our language lab, and many other engaging Middle and Upper School lessons. Our visitors also met with St. Luke’s Academic Technologist to get a broader sense of how St. Luke’s innovatively uses technology throughout various disciplines.

While our World Language Department receives many inquiries each year about its innovations, this is the first time we’ve had four schools visiting at once. View the World Language Classes Observed photo gallery.
