Storm Athletes Honored With Postseason Accolades
Following another successful fall season for all six varsity sports, 17 of our student athletes received honors in the postseason awards for the Fairchester Athletic Association (FAA).
Boys Soccer finished the season 6-4-2 overall with a 3-4 record in league play. The team made the FAA tournament but were narrowly beaten by Rye Country Day School in the quarterfinal. Ryan Neafsey ‘18, Chase Zammit ‘18 and Jack Halsey ‘18 were selected for All-FAA honors and Julian Velez ‘20 received an honorable mention.
The St. Luke’s Girls Varsity Soccer team finished with an overall record of 8-5-1 and 6-3 in FAA league play. The team narrowly lost to Greenwich Academy in the FAA semifinal in double overtime and also made the NEPSAC (New England Preparatory School Athletic Council) tournament quarterfinal where it was defeated by The MacDuffie School. Lea Panagiotidis ‘20 and Sammy Grayson ‘21 earned All-League FAA and Elizabeth Laub ‘18 received an honorable mention. Panagiotidis also received All-State honors for her fine season from the Connecticut Girls' Soccer Coaches Association.
Field Hockey enjoyed its most successful season since 2008 finishing with an overall record of 6-10-2. Juniors Emma Cropper and Kendall Boege were awarded All-League honors and Abbey O’Meara ‘20 received an honorable mention. Sophia DellaRusso '18 was selected as a member of the All NEPSAC Honorable Mention Field Hockey Team.
The Varsity Football team battled hard all season and finished with a 4-5 overall record. The Storm enjoyed impressive victories over Wilbraham and Monson, Westminster, Hopkins and Long Island Lutheran. Postseason accolades were given to Shaka Moales ‘18 (FAA All-League), Brendan Casey ‘18 and Ben Joseph ‘18 (FAA honorable mention)
In Cross Country, Thomas Arnold ‘22 enjoyed a tremendous first season running with the varsity squad. The eighth grader won the South Kent Invitational as well as the Junior Olympics race in Litchfield and finished seventh overall in the FAA Championship race. He received an All-League honor for his strong campaign.
Varsity Volleyball enjoyed another terrific season on the court which saw the team finish 9-3 overall and 5-3 in league play. The Storm progressed to the semifinals of both the FAA tournament and the NEPSAC tournament but were narrowly defeated by the King School and The MacDuffie School, respectively. Ali Ferris ‘18 and Bridget Dalton ‘18 received All-League honors and Maria Minuesa ‘18 was given an honorable mention for her efforts throughout the fall.
