WSLX Rocks the Season

V. Parker
When was the last time you listened to St. Luke’s very own radio station WSLX?

St. Luke’s WSLX is gearing up for the holidays mixing in some seasonal songs into its playlists. You can hear senior Duncan Maclear’s weekday Happy Hour Holidays program from 5:00-6:00pm with holiday-themed music ranging from traditional to whimsical,  but that’s not all. Airing 24/7/365, there’s a range of music offerings from yesterday and today, as well as news and sports commentary with students learning on how to be DJs Monday-Thursday from 3:00-4:00pm. This time of year you might even catch a live broadcast of a Storm boys’ or girls’ basketball game, as students hone their sportscasting skills.

WSLX Advisor Jeff Kress has been a part of the School’s radio station for the last ten years. Kress said, “Students have a great opportunity to learn about radio, including live broadcasting, sports journalism, recording and production of promotional announcements, weather reports, and adding music to the database. He continued, “Most colleges have radio stations, so our graduates can legitimately demonstrate significant experience and the most interested definitely continue to enjoy participating beyond St. Luke’s. ”

To listen to St. Luke’s, go to the Click to Listen button on the webpage or download the TuneIn Radio app. You can also go “old school” and tune into the station at 91.9FM if you’re within a few miles of the campus.
