Football Info Night A Huge Success

Dan Clarke
St. Luke’s first Football Information Night was a huge success. Over 60 visitors came to the Hilltop to hear how sportsmanship, a focus on brain health and the use of an Mobile Virtual Player (MVP) distinguish St. Luke’s program.

Athletic Director Mike West introduced head coach Noel Thomas who described the culture he and his staff have created, and the family feeling on the team. Assistant coach, and St. Luke’s alum, Joe Bonaddio Jr ‘12 then gave an account of his experience as a former player and his journey back to the Hilltop as part of the coaching staff.

Assistant Head of School for Leadership & Innovation (and parent to a current player) Jim Foley followed Bonaddio Jr and talked about the experience his son Jack had this fall. Foley emphasized the importance St. Luke’s Football places on character building and the positive impact being part of the team had on his son.

Thomas then returned to discuss the steps St. Luke’s has taken towards player safety, particularly brain health, and the benefits of being able to use the MVP in practice.

The evening concluded with a Q&A session with a panel including Thomas, Sonia Bell (Director of College Counselling), Darrell Johnson (Parent of a current player) and Dolan Gregorich ‘16 (Former St. Luke’s Varsity Football player and current offensive lineman at Trinity College). Many people stayed behind afterwards to chat with coaches and players in a more informal environment.

Thomas was extremely pleased the event: “Our Football Information Night was overwhelmingly positive. We were able to engage directly with prospective St. Luke's families about our special community and our Storm Football Family.”
