Students Honor Veterans During Wreaths Across America Day

V. Parker
Christian Pizzarelli ‘19 and Wes Meyers ‘20 kicked off their winter break by representing St. Luke’s Young Republicans Club at the National Wreaths Across America Day in Darien. According to the website, the “mission to Remember, Honor and Teach is carried out by coordinating wreath-laying ceremonies at Arlington National Cemetery, as well as over 1,200 additional locations in all 50 U.S. states, at sea, and abroad.”

Connecticut State Representative Terrie Wood as well as many others from the community participated in this meaningful ceremony. Christian reflected, “It was heartwarming to see so many people laying wreaths, stating the name of the veteran being honored.” He added, “I think it’s important to participate in events like this to honor those who sacrifice so much.” Wes said, “We owe our lives to them. I am so glad I did this.”
