St. Luke's Uses Suffocating Defense to Knock off FAA Rival Brunswick

Evan Downey
St. Luke's Boys Basketball got off to a hot 16-1 start and never looked back.  Though the Bruins closed the gap a couple of times, St. Luke's held a 42-25 lead at the half.  The teams traded baskets for the opening minutes of the second half until the Storm locked down the Bruin attack, holding Brunswick to 5 points over the final 9:15.  Senior Co-Captains Jonas Harper and Jackson Ryan led the Storm with 25 and 15 points respectively.  Fellow senior Andrew Varoli added 13 points and junior Scott Vollmer chipped in 12 to join Harper and Ryan in double figures.  Cole Bryant added 8 points, Jackson Selvala scored 5 and freshman Kenny Soares scored his first varisty bucket on a steal in the closing minute of the game.  St. Luke's moved to 3-0 in FAA play with the win.  The Storm returns to the hardwood on Wedesnday for a 5:15pm tilt against FAA power Masters (NY).
