Girls Varsity Basketball To Host East-West Tournament

Dan Clarke
St. Luke’s Girls Basketball is excited to co-host the inaugural East-West tournament this weekend in conjunction with Greens Farms Academy and Hamden Hall.

The Storm will take on Cheshire Academy and St. Andrew’s School at home on Saturday, January 20 at 11am and 6pm respectively. GVBB then face defending NEPSAC Class C champions Proctor Academy on Sunday, January 21 at 11:30am at GFA.

Head coach Matt Ward organized the event made up of nine Class C teams and one Class B school from around New England. Ward hopes the event will provide some great competition for everyone involved: “This tournament has been something that has been talked about for a few years now.  When it comes to the NEPSAC tournament it can be difficult to truly seed teams because many don’t play each other. The East-West showcase gives participating teams a chance to challenge themselves against the best in the class from across New England. It’s a win for everyone.”
