Squash Teams Secure Senior Day Wins

Dan Clarke
The St. Luke’s Boys and Girls Varsity Squash teams both enjoyed comfortable victories on their respective Senior Days this week.

GVS faced Greens Farms Academy on Tuesday, February 20, and celebrated Caroline Nevin ‘18 and everything she has given to the program over the years with a comprehensive 7-0 victory.

Nevin, the only senior in this year’s squad, put in a fine display to win her final match for St. Luke’s 3-0. There were also wins for Ryan Weil ‘21, Amelia Heffern ‘21, Kaitlin Necakov ‘20, Pamela Jaramillo ‘19, Danielle Nares ‘21 and Caroline Pellegrino ‘21.

Boys Varsity Squash recognized their seniors before the match against The Canterbury School on Wednesday, February 21. Logan Diliberto ‘18, Ian Thomas ‘18, Ajit Akole ‘18 and Dennis Polyakov ‘18 were all thanked for their incredible contributions to the program.

In another impressive display, the Storm raced into a 6-0 lead with Diliberto, Thomas, Toby Bloch ‘23, Thomas Bailey ‘22, Cameron Hill ‘21 and Liam Patty ‘21 all making light work of their opponents.

Polyakov, playing in the #1 slot, fought back from 0-2 down to take the match to a fifth game. In a very tense affair, the St. Luke’s talisman would, unfortunately, fall 10-12 to give Canterbury its first point of the day. Final score 6-1.
