St. Luke's Defeats Greens Farms in FAA Tournament Semifinal

Evan Downey
St. Luke's defeated rival Greens Farms in the FAA Tournament Semifinals to move on to the Tournament Finals for the third consecutive year.  Clinging to a 3 point lead midway through the first half, the Storm rattled off a 9-0 run over the next three minutes to force a Dragons time out.  The teams went back and forth for the remainder of the half, but the Storm took a 37-21 lead into the break.  The Storm and the Dragons traded buckets for most of the second half before an 18-6 run pushed the St. Luke's lead out to 30 at 70-40.  Greens Farms made a late run, but the St. Luke's was able to close out the game for an 81-57 win.  Senior Andrew Varoli led the Storm attack with 20 points (6 of 9 from behind the arc).  Co-Captains Jonas Harper (15 points) and Jackson Ryan (14 points) joined Varoli in double figures.  Jah'khi Washington added 8 points and set the tone with several huge hustle plays, while Jackson Selvala and Scott Vollmer each added 6 points, and John Wisdom and Cole Byrant scored 4 each.  St. Luke's returns to the hardwood on Saturday against regular season champion Hamden Hall.  Tip is at 3pm.
