St. Luke's Falls at Hamden Hall in FAA Tournament Final

Evan Downey
For the third time this season, St. Luke's fell against FAA rival Hamden Hall, this time with a Tournament Championship on the line.  The Storm got off to a poor start and found themselves trailing 40-29 at the half.  St. Luke's played the second half with tremendous energy on both ends of the floor, and despite narrowing the margin to one with ten minutes to go, the Storm were unable to get over the hump.  The game was close down the stretch with Hamden leading by 59-57 with 4:30 to go and by three with 90 seconds to play.  But, Hamden Hall's strong start proved to be too much for the Storm to overcome and the Hornets were able to secure the Championship trophy on their home floor.  St. Luke's was led by Jonas Harper, who finished with 17 points.  Jah'khi Washington joined Harper in double figures with 10.  Seniors Jackson Selvala and Andrew Varoli added 9 points each, Scott Vollmer added 6, Jackson Ryan scored 5, John Wisdom added 4, and Cole Bryant chipped in 2 to round out the Storm attack.  St. Luke's returns to the hardwood Wednesday afternoon for the NEPSAC Tournament Quarterfinals.  With its selection as the #7 seed, St. Luke's earned its fifth consecutive NEPSAC bid.  They will attempt to upset an extremely talented and well coached Rivers School squad, which earned the #2 seed.  The game will be played at Rivers School's Benson Gym.  Tip is at 3:45pm.
