"The Weinstein Effect: How to Talk with Children About Sexual Assault"
Saturday, February 24, 2018
8:30-10:30am

On Saturday, February 24, St. Luke’s hosted the annual Fathers and Friends Breakfast with Head of School Mark Davis. Davis was joined by guest speaker, Doug Lyons, Executive Director of the Connecticut Association of Independent Schools to discuss how to talk with children about sexual assault.

More than 60 dads attended a wonderful breakfast provided by our chefs at Flik. The St. Luke’s Dining Room Commons was buzzing with conversation and fellowship. Once everyone was well fed, the group headed over to the Forese Family Fireplace Commons to tackle this critical topic.

Lyons stressed the importance of fathers having conversations with their children, sons, and daughters, and suggested starting these talks at an early age. He also discussed the influence of technology and media on culture and the value of open dialogue with your children.

After the discussion, thirty fathers stayed on for a tour of the new Arts and Humanities Wings, led by Davis.

You can learn more about the breakfast topic in the original invitation letter.
