Going Back in Time to Greece

VGP
Sixteen St. Luke's students and three Classics teachers visited ancient sites on the island of Crete and the mainland of Greece.
Over Spring Break, Classics teachers Matthew Bavone, Leonora Mahler, and Jim Yavenditti took 16 Upper School students on an exciting adventure through mainland Greece and Crete. The trip was organized by the Center for Leadership and the World Language Departments.

Highlights included the Acropolis of Athens; the theater at Epidaurus; running the famous track at Olympia; climbing the heights at Delphi; seeing the labyrinthine Palace of Knossos; and taking an authentic Greek cooking class in Vamos, Crete. "It's so great to see our students interested in the ancient world, whether they're taking ancient Greek or Latin here on the Hilltop or not," says Jim Yavenditti. "I think that everyone on the trip learned a lot about millennia of Greek culture and history, from the Minoans to modern day."
