Varsity Golf Finish Third At Bulls Bridge Tournament

Dan Clarke
The St. Luke’s Varsity Golf team finished third overall in the 2018 Western New England Prep School Invitational at The Bulls Bridge Golf Club in South Kent on Wednesday, May 9.

The Storm finished behind Brunswick and Avon Old Farms in the sixteen-strong field with a total score of 398.

Jack Maguire ‘19 and Mark Gertsen ‘19 both shot 75 playing in the number one and two positions and Ben Loomis ‘21 and Jack Fitzgibbon ‘21 finished with 81. Captain Will Frossell ‘18 rounded out the final score with an 86.

It was a very strong showing from the Storm golfers who were competing against Canterbury School, Greens Farms Academy, The Gunnery, Hopkins School, Kent School, Loomis Chaffee School, Millbrook School, South Kent School, Suffield Academy, The Taft School, Trinity-Pawling School and Westminster School.

Head Coach Jason Warner was pleased with the team’s performance: “The boys played some very good golf. I think they would have all liked to have scored a couple lower but it was a new course for many of them.”

The team will look to defend its FAA title on Monday, May 14 at The Country Club of New Canaan.
