On September 8, Guy Bailey, retired St. Luke’s Assistant Head of School for Teaching and Learning, was back on campus helping College Counseling Director Sonia Bell by proctoring the ACT. The visit marked the 50th anniversary, almost to the day, that Bailey began his independent school career at St. Luke’s, following graduation from the University of Rochester. He then went on to the Long Ridge School in Stamford for 18 years, the last five as Head of School, followed by seven years as Administrative Manager of the Mead School, then in Greenwich. He returned to the Hilltop in 1996 for 18 more years, prior to retiring in 2014.

Having served on the Connecticut Association’s Commission on Membership and Accreditation since 1989, Guy was recently appointed by Executive Director Doug Lyons to succeed Sue Cesare as official Accreditation Consultant, overseeing the accreditation of some 45 Connecticut independent schools.

Guy Bailey’s son, Andrew ‘03, is an alumnus, and his wife, Kathy King, retired as a St. Luke’s 5th-grade teacher in 2016.
