St. Luke’s Academic Technologists Present at Boston Conference
St. Luke’s Academic Technologists Matt Bavone and Eli Fendelman shared their innovative teaching techniques at the OESIS Conference in Boston last weekend. According to the OESIS Group website, its mission is “to catalyze change in the learning models of schools with an emphasis on the innovative practices in pedagogy, curriculum development, 21st-century assessment, and school culture change.”
Bavone's and Fendelman’s presentation focused on how to structure mastery-based, blended (part online/part in-class) content using Latin Omnibus as the exemplar. Some of the highlights covered included scaffolding of instructional materials and how to frame a blended course. They noted benefits of mastery-based, blended courses include increased flexibility for varied learning styles, student-driven/student-focused learning, and leveraging contemporary technological skills.
