Towers Named PLL Head Coach

Daniel Clarke
St. Luke’s Boys Varsity Lacrosse Coach Andy Towers has been named as one of six Head Coaches for the Premier Lacrosse League’s inaugural season.

The Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) is a new professional men’s lacrosse league started by the sport’s most high-profile player and personality, Paul Rabil.

The 2019 PLL season will get underway on June 1 – beginning a 14-week season, with stops in 12 major cities across the country. The PLL season will include 10 regular-season weekends, one all-star weekend and two playoff weekends, concluding with the championship weekend on September 21st.

The six teams will boast some of the biggest names in the sport which was one of the major draws for Towers: “This allows me to stay in the sport at the very highest level. It is incredibly exciting to be given the chance to coach the best players in the world. It is as humbling as it gets and a great honor to be given this opportunity.”

Towers, a Brown University All-American and member of the Connecticut Lacrosse Hall of Fame, will continue in his role as the St. Luke’s Boys Lacrosse Program Director before joining up with the pro team.

More information about the PLL will be released over the next few months.
