History of Ancient Greece Class Gets Hands-On Learning

VGP
From Director of Studies and History of Ancient Greece teacher Jim Yavenditti:

On January 14, St. Luke’s alumni parent Cliff Fox visited the History of Ancient Greece class to show the class his incredible collection of Greek coins.
Fox gave a general overview of Greek coins, touching on some of the themes that we see in Greek coinage—both major and minor deities, and also a focus on the particular Greek town, or polis—and then shared his collection with the class.

Students were able to see coins from the Greek world that spanned centuries, including some exceptional coins from Athens and Syracuse in particular. It was a special and rare opportunity for our St. Luke’s students to have this tactile connection with the ancient past that they studied during the first semester.

Many thanks to Mr. Fox for sharing both his impressive coin collection and his passion for ancient numismatics with us.
