Lunch & Lead: Path to Pathology

V. Parker
From Center for Leadership Director Kate Parker-Burgard:

On January 24, St. Luke’s Center for Leadership had Dr. Angelique Levi as its Lunch & Lead speaker. Dr. Levi talked about her journey to become a professor of pathology at Yale University. Her engaging talk touched on her high school and college experiences, her flexibility in getting to medical school, and her work in private practice.

Dr. Levi’s eventual decision to pursue pathology was cemented when she realized her ability to pick up on visual clues facilitated the identification of diseases within cells. Her passion for being a pathologist was evident through stories about her day-to-day work.

While she said her job requires great focus and precision, she also tries to have some balance in her life and not take everything too seriously. She recommended that the students should be open to opportunities that come their way but not put too much pressure on themselves, especially as teens.
