St. Luke's Girls Basketball Completes FAA Four-peat

Daniel Clarke
The St. Luke’s Girls Varsity Basketball team won its fourth straight FAA regular season title on Friday, February 8, with a comfortable 63-24 win at Greenwich Academy.

The Storm completed a perfect 9-0 conference schedule with the win over the Gators to move to 19-1 overall for the season. The team’s only loss so far this season came against The Rivers School on December 30, at the Noble and Greenough tournament.

The victory at GA extended GVBB’s FAA winning streak to 43 games, including playoff wins, but Head Coach Matt Ward is hoping to extend that record even further: “We are getting better and better every day. It’s a lot of fun to be around this group. We want to win every game and keep this streak going.”

The Storm will face King School in the quarterfinals of the FAA tournament on Tuesday, February 19, as they look to make it four tournament titles in a row. Ward added, “Hopefully, we can win the league tournament again this year. It will be tough, but our kids are ready.”

St. Luke’s Girls Varsity Basketball hosts Watkinson School on Thursday, February 14, at 6:00pm and travels to Taft School on Saturday, February 16, before starting tournament play.
