Lunch & Lead: Roku Analyst Lauren Pendo ‘12

VGP
From Alumni Relations Director Stefanie Veneruso & St. Luke’s Alumni Parent Hetty Nerod:

Alumna Lauren Pendo ‘12 recently returned to St. Luke’s as the featured speaker at the Center for Leadership’s Lunch & Lead. Pendo shared her mathematical journey from the Hilltop (including her classes with Jeff Kress, Alec LeBris, and Mike Mitchell) to Davidson College to her work at Roku as an Audience Development Data Analyst. As a television streaming platform that allows consumers to personalize content, Roku relies on the skills of analysts like Pendo.

During her days at St. Luke's, Lauren preferred science over math. She even remembered declaring her complete dislike of calculus and asking Mr. Kress why anyone would ever major in math. Once at Davidson, she, of course, majored in math, finding the problem solving and group work appealing.
The Upper School students in attendance were eager to hear about her journey to where she is today. When asked about what coursework prepared her for her job, Lauren recommended that students take computer science classes. She was pleased to discover that many things she had learned during her time at St. Luke’s have been applicable to her work.

Many thanks to Carolina Warneryd ‘19 and the Women in STEM Education (WISE) Club for inviting Pendo as the guest speaker at this engaging Lunch & Lead.
