The Great White Way came to the Hilltop when actor Nick Podany, who’s currently playing Albus Potter on Broadway in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, came to meet with St. Luke’s students. The Advanced Acting class and other students had the chance to share stories with Podany and do some movement exercises he learned while studying at Julliard. It was followed by a standing-room-only Center for Leadership Lunch & Lead where Podany talked about the rigors of his craft and the value of learning new things in school and beyond. He also shared how he relaxes, especially given his intense performance schedule, (answer: reading poetry) and revealed one of the toughest words to say with a British accent (answer: Potter).

This special visit was thanks to St. Luke’s Director of Theatre Arts Jason Peck, who taught Podany in the theatre program at the Los Angeles-based Brentwood School. Peck shared, “It gave me such joy and brought tears to my eyes to see one of my former students come back and share his gifts with my current students. Nick, who is performing at the highest level of acting, was that rare student who was both incredibly talented and very humble. He’s an inspiration to the next generation of artists.”
