Girls Tennis Downs Millbrook On The Road

The St. Luke’s Girls Varsity Tennis team enjoyed an impressive 8-0 win over The Millbrook School on Wednesday, April 24.

The Storm bounced back after a tough loss to Greenwich Academy on Monday, April 22, to make light work of the Mustangs. Maddie Harris ‘19, Hannah Amendola ‘19, Audrey Magnussen ‘20, and Grace Fitzgibbon ‘19 all won their singles matches, in straight sets, dropping only eight games combined.

In the doubles contests, Amelia Heffern ‘21 and Caroline Pellegrino ‘21 won 6-0, 6-1, Tyleigh Zammit ‘19 and Sophie Dekker ‘23 recorded a 6-1, 6-2 victory, and Mia Mitchell ‘20 and Sadie Vehslage ‘20 beat their opponents 6-1, 6-0.

In the final match of the day, senior Carolina Warneryd and her sister, Amelie Warneryd ‘20 completed the sweep for St. Luke’s to win the super tiebreaker 10-5.

The team improved to 3-2 overall on the season and will be back in action on Friday, April 26, as it hosts Rye Country Day School at 4:30pm.
