designLab Camp Launches This Summer at St. Luke’s

VGP
From St. Luke’s designLab Director Michael Mitchell:

I often find that spring is an ideal time to take a deep breath (depending on my seasonal allergies, of course), reflect on the past year, and begin to plan for the future.  Part of this planning inevitably involves a summer’s ‘to do’ list. The comparatively unstructured months of June, July, and August provide the time necessary to learn new things and to pilot project ideas for the following school year; therefore the summer quickly becomes a proving ground for curricular innovation.

This will be especially true during the inaugural summer of St. Luke’s designLab. Over the past few months, I have been in awe of how the new space has transformed the program—especially in our Middle School. These students, led by middle school designLab faculty member Kimberly Gerardi, have helped redefine what it means to be a maker by exploring projects at the intersection of art, design, computer science, and engineering.

As a result we’re piloting new experiences as part of Summer at St. Luke’s.
