St. Luke's Softball Celebrate Seniors In Style

Daniel Clarke
The St. Luke’s Softball team improved to 6-3 for the season with a comprehensive 11-1 win against Millbrook School on Wednesday, May 1.

It was the perfect way to celebrate everything the team’s five seniors have given to the program over the years.

St. Luke’s raced out to a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning, and some strong pitching from Riley Page ‘19 kept the Mustangs at bay. Page recorded six strikeouts, giving up just two hits and one run in five innings.

Kendall Boege ‘19 went 1-2 with a walk, Maddy Sead ‘19 went 3-4 with three RBIs, and Page went 1-2 with two walks. Emma Cropper ‘19 returned to the line-up following an injury to play in her first game of the season. The Wilton native pinch-hit and struck a double to right-center field to score two runs late in the game.

Head Coach Elizabeth Joseph was thrilled after the game: “I am so proud of these seniors and how far they have come. Maddy has been a superb leader and stepped up to play first base for us this season. Riley has been on fire at the plate, hitting five home runs in the last four games and nine overall this year. Kendall has been awesome in center field, tracking down any ball that comes her way. Emma’s injury was a tough one, but she’s coming back at the right time, given playoffs are just around the corner.”

The Storm is back on the field on Friday, May 3, as it travels to The Harvey School for a 4pm game. The team then has three games in five days, traveling to Hopkins on Monday, May 6, and Sacred Heart School on Wednesday, May 8, before hosting Canterbury School on Friday, May 10.
