Boys Tennis Downs Hopkins and Millbrook

Boys Varsity Tennis continued its impressive start to the season with a 6-1 win over Millbrook School on Wednesday, May 1.

The Storm won all of its singles matches and one doubles match to improve to 7-4 overall on the season.

Brian Peck ‘19 got things going for the home team with a straight-sets victory in the number one matchup. Both Zach Amendola ‘20 and Max Lehnert ‘19 won in super tiebreakers, playing in the number two and number three matches respectively. Rutger Zenner ‘20 and James Adamini ‘20 then completed the singles sweep with straight-sets wins at number four and five singles.

Jack Briggs '21 and Adam Rizvi '21, competing in the number one doubles match, made it 6-0 for the Storm before the Mustangs won the final point at number two doubles.

The victory followed a huge FAA win over Hopkins School on Monday, April 29. In an enthralling encounter, the Storm squeaked out a 4-3 victory against the Hilltoppers. Jack Truwit ‘20 and Teddy Truwit ‘22 won the number one and two singles matches before doubles pairings Amendola/Lehnert and Adamini/Rizvi were victorious to give St. Luke’s the edge against a talented opponent.

Boys Varsity Tennis takes to the court again next week on Tuesday, May 7, to celebrate Senior Day, and to compete against King School. The team then travels to Masters School (NY) on Thursday, May 9, for another important FAA contest.
